Hello #Fediverse! I'm Jason (he/they) / @north@fosstodon.org and I'm preparing my potential candidacy to take the #GA14 seat currently being held hostage by QMAGA terrorist and Internet troll Marjorie Taylor Greene. Marjorie and her ilk have no business representing anybody and need to be removed at all costs.

I'm doing this primarily because the safety of my family quite literally depends on it. I'm otherwise just some software developer from the Oregon Trail generation with a sense of empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding that people should be accepted and allowed to be who they are, regardless of their sexuality, gender identity, ethnicity, mental health, education, economic status, fur-affinity (:eyes:), or religious beliefs. It's also just the right thing to do.

I'm a #Fedizen and I recognize how irritating it can be, so I'm not here to ask for anything and won't be soliciting donations here, now or in the future. I'd be thrilled just to receive advice, constructive feedback, and questions from anybody willing to provide them.

I always have DMs open on every platform and my personal email address is freely available (although info@gadeservesbetter.com or press@gadeservesbetter.com would be generally preferred); please feel free to reach out. My intention is to personally read every message and respond to any good faith comments or questions, particularly in early stages while that's still manageable.

Hello #Fediverse! I have a major dilemma and there are no clear solutions. I've made a lot of moves to begin a 2024 run against Marjorie Taylor Greene in #GA14 and for a variety of reasons that aren't important right now, I strongly believe that I would be quite successful. As we're all aware, the legislation and fearmongering that people like Marjorie keep pushing are putting our children into actual physical danger.

I have zero problems putting myself on the national stage and into the crosshairs of the extremists - in fact, I welcome it. However... I wouldn't be stepping into that spotlight alone; these people are absolutely evil and would immediately politicize my 6 year old (in addition to just being the child of a political opponent, they have a particular trait that would be leaked and latched onto), which would hurt them in a much more direct way by placing a target on them that would remain long after any campaign or congressional term. That puts me into a position where trying to protect my child from harm exposes them to even more of it.

I can't and won't do something that I know would harm my child, but I also can't stand by and watch it happen to other people's children. So what do I do? I truly don't know. I'd love to get feedback -- particularly from other parents and those who have this type of experience, but also just from anybody who has any to give.
