I’m watching Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The scene where Ant-Man appears by the thousands to do the same task made me think of #GAAD, and how every year is basically thousands of accessibility specialists falling over themselves to go over the same 2 or 3 things: add alt text, use a screen reader, and so on.

We’ll never get anywhere if we never get off the foundational level. So, what are we doing for the other 364 days of the year?

Is it groovy that #Microsoft has such an engaged #accessibility team? Yup. Is it a downer that they continue to post on a platform that fired its entire accessibility team and killed off the third-party accessibility tools, while ignoring this one? Hell yup. So, apparently #BeMyEyes is handing out beta access to its virtual volunteer feature as a prise on podcasts to celebrate #Gaad. I am all for bringing more fun into accessibility, but having signed up on day 1 to get beta access, hoping to give them valuable feedback as a bilingual user, I feel left behind and not valued. My timezone excludes me from live versions of most competitions, effectively restricting my access to an accessibility feature which could have great benefits. Not very fair.

@objectinspace @Marco This is true. But I start objecting when it becomes purely performative. When a company/organization's PR doesn't match their marketing on #GAAD, it's different. We know who the good players are and we know who the bad ones are.

Today was #GAAD and I really wish I planned things out better. I have trainings I could do at work but there was also an all day event I had to attend. Really will need to think about #NDEAM coming in October. Any other dates I can look forward to to promote #accessibility ?

It appears that #Google is going to incorporate #GenerativeAI in its #Lookout app for Android users to enable #blind people to get detailed image descriptions and queery the system to get details and ask questions. The feature is based on a model developed by Deepmind. It goes in a closed beta today with wider availability soon.

I wonder if #SeeingAI will have something similar soon.
