It’s already Global #accessibility Awareness Day #GADD here, another busy day for me with media and other educational opportunities. Thanks to everyone who, in any capacity, helps fulfil the promise of #empowerment and #inclusivity that accessible technology can facilitate.
We rightly concentrate on the work still to be done, the barriers left to eliminate. But when I think of how much more information, and how many devices, I have access to in 2023 compared to 1993, we have made remarkable progress.
Let’s maintain that progress by ensuring that our language around accessibility is open and inclusive. We have sufficient characters here, and the topics are too important. When we talk accessibility, let’s say the word loud and proud, no need for exclusionary abbreviations. I personally will not boost posts that contain such, and I know I’m not the only one.
