What gadgetbahns are certified "Made in America" and therefore eligible for federal funds?

@kaffeeringe @Jess_Kordouni @ruoff es gibt sogar einen Wikipedia Artikel zu der #GadgetBahn
#Gadgetbahn or good ideas? #zugderzukunft

@baeuchle @moritzkraehe no problem! I try to avoid #GadgetBahn type of schemes!
Gosh- I missed this bit of #SelfDriving nonsense- they want to put #driverless #buses across the old Forth Road Bridge, at a cost of millions. Why not a #tram system (it would move thousands more people). #gadgetbahn comes to #Scotland

This type of shit is really like the FDP and eFuels
A pie in the sky "solution" which won't work now and won't work in 5 years or 10 years and so is... basically a reason to not solve the problem
I went to Nijmegen-Kleve last year. It's damned hard to fix! There's a reason it didn't make it to my Top 20 projects!
General rule: something that DOES NOT EXIST YET is almost certainly not the solution for your rail problem THAT EXISTS RIGHT NOW.
Most solutions to most rail problems are *boring*.
They involve trains of designs that are known, running on infra that is also known, powered by systems that are also already known.
The problem is the POLITICS or the FINANCE, and some #Gadgetbahn isn't likely to help you solve those problems!
No 🤦♂️
Seriously, some wacky idea isn't going to help you overcome this really complex problem
Nijmegen-Kleve is a hellish hard line to re-open, and some weird mini cabins aren't going to help. Sorry.
Pursuant to an @RM_Transit video from a few months back, I'm trying to figure out what an Automated People Mover #GadgetBahn connecting the #CMH airport to downtown #Columbus #Ohio could look like. Here's my outline of notes: https://github.com/benlk/columbus-regional-rail/issues/7
What would you add or change? #FeedbackWanted #TransitTooter #Transit

The other day, @NatalyaD introduced me to the term #DisabilityDongle. Now I've just encountered #Gadgetbahn. And of course I'm well aware of the annual attempt by an eager design student (and occasionally Sir Clive Sincliar) to revolutionise the bicycle without any of that troublesome research. (Though that doesn't seem to have a specific term.)
Is there a general term for these kinds of #ImpracticalInnovations? Or do you know of one from another field?
#disabilitydongle #gadgetbahn #impracticalinnovations
Aaaaaaaaah.
I must say the TER Grand Est trains are much more comfy and cleaner than the German ones, but on the other hand, the timetables could be better (like when two services run approximately every 2 hours, why don't they connect neatly 😐)
And regarding the Nancy #Gadgetbahn, its replacement is probably for the best. The attaching & detaching process from the guiding rail is so slow, for no benefit to be experienced. The only actual downside I see soon, is #LevelBoarding, as the "trams" are currently perfectly aligned to the stops, unlike buses or when detached from the guiding rail. Unfortunately Nancy decided against rebuilding the system as a real tram, and opted for trolleybuses instead.
@starshine
I found it. It was this video explaining #GadgetBahn

Vous ne rêvez pas, il y a vraiment des personnes qui proposent un autobus pour transporter sur le toit des voitures et leurs passagers en bas.
