The best description of my spiritual inclination is what folks call #NaturalPantheism, or similarly, #ScientificPantheism. I've been journaling and thinking about it a lot, and I have been considering doing the universal life thing and officiating life events under the natural pantheism worldview, except I think the guy who has done a lot of the book writing about it recently feels possessive of the name. But I don't think it's trademarked. Still thinking about it.

Not taking this as hostile at all - it's genuinely interesting and everyone makes some valid points and food for thought. Regarding "primitivism", I don't think there's a binary divide. All of us exist on the ideological spectrum of technological acceptence, from techbro transhumanists/accelerationists to anti-agrarian an-prims. I do tend towards the "soft" primitivist side of the spectrum, though make a concious effort to remain grounded in the practical reasons for that (respect for, protecting, healing, and living wihtin the limits of Gaia) rather than getting stuck in a circle of ideological purity, so I do recognise the benefits of appropiate, sustainable technologies that can created, controlled and maintained at a local level. This also builds communities that are more likely to be able survive long-term, since it seems unlikely that large-scale organisational/institutional structures will maintain their effectiveness (or even survive) through the climate fall-out.

But agressive falls in demand are needed, regardless of where that demand is coming from. For Australia, we need to reduce overall resource demand by at least 75% to bring consumption within sustainable limits, so obviously our "renewables" (lower lifecycle cost power, to be honest), can only be produced within those boundaries.

These boundaries also absolutely neccessitate a fair bit of deindustrialisation, regardless of our own personal technological orientation - otherwise we'll all die together, "civilized" and "savage" alike. Even with lower lifecycle cost power, that degree of deindustrialisation is still unavoidable, and as a culture we need to work out *not* how to prevent that, but rather which things we truly value the most and will priorortise maintaining, what we are willing to let go, and what new things we feel may have potential. If we don't make those decisions, and accept the boundaries that we must make them within, those decisions will be made for us, and our hopes and dreams, be they "civilized" or "savage", will carry no weight.
