I just installed #gajim 1.8.1 and I was searching for the new option to enable OMEMO-encryption by default.

Just in case you are also searching for this setting:
The option is placed in the account settings (select your XMPP address and select privacy). There you can set the Default Encryption method.

This means, you can make your decision for each XMPP account separately. I like it.

While I use some in-#Emacs tools (e.g. #mastodonEl, #mu4e, #EXWM of course, #magit, etc.), I find #jabberEl pretty outdated compared to modern #Jabber clients like #Dino, #Gajim or #Profanity. And #eww feels very slow compared to #Firefox 🙁 (C-x 8 RET SLIGHTLY FROWNING FACE RET).

I fell in love with XMPP (again). Long time I have not been using it, but it has developed great. Gajim has become a beautiful client and I just wish more users would join. For SpaceFun, I have created a little Room, so feel free to try and join me there. Just Click on + Start Chat in Gajim and enter spacefun@conference.trashserver.net

Gajim 1.8.0 has been released 🥳 and it comes with integrated OMEMO encryption! Integrating the OMEMO plugin brings tighter integration and better user experience.

We also rearranged the chat menu and added some quick buttons for convenience.

Both Gajim’s message search and conversation view received some important changes and fixes.

First of all, use @torproject because companies like @protonmail can and will snitch on their customers, so don't use them or ajy of the #GAFAM|s for anything.

In terms of comms, I'd recommend #XMPP - #OMEMO for #Chat (i.e. #Gajim), #Thunderbird (with PGP/MIME encryption) for #eMail, #WebCall for 1:1 securely encrypted calls (#P2P so maybe not ideal)...

Excuse my bad english.
I use #XMPP with public server and selfhosting at home with #freedombox software (freedombox.org). #Dino as client on pc with debian 11. I think #Dino is better than #Gajim.
On android smartfone i use #Conversation as client.
With #freedombox you can also use #Matrix.
Mostly i use software from #f-droid store for Android.

Gajim 1.7.2 has been released 🚀
This release brings many bug fixes and some useful improvements. Gajim now allows you to delete messages from your local chat history (in case of nasty spam messages).
