It's super challenging to work with shaders, but so rewarding.
I am reworking the light system to move it from the CPU to the #gpu, which when finished will not only increase the performance and maintainability, but also greatly increase the visuals and potential gameplay and immersion.
GPUs are awesome!
PS: Don't mind too much the details as well as the lack of light on the tiles, it's very much a work in progress and far from finished.

The #GameDev thing I'm working on right now is a dialogue system that's sort of a mix of what's in Disco Elysium, along with some thoughts I got to thinking from reading Emily Short's blog and things I learned from my therapist... In summary, instead of DE where you have a skill system that represents different voices you can level up, we are going to set up each character as a personality made up of a multiplicity of voices that clamor for the player's attention.

been working on my #canadianwildfires macintosh system 6/simearth style game for the past few weeks, and got terrain generation going.
can now procedurally generate terrain, which will act as the substrate for the forest, plant and animal life that lives on top of it.
also implemented fire lookout towers! these reveal the areas hidden by a fog-of-war. of course, they cost money to build, and pay the yearly salaries for the lookouts stationed there 😅
