#Godot 4.1 looks pretty cool - especially a fan of experimental multithreading support.
I'm a big fan of the engine but I've never really spent a massive amount of time tinkering with it when compared to #Unity or #UnrealEngine5. I'm sure I'll get around to it one day 😀

Why do most popular #GameEngines today are intricately integrated with the tools and editor?
Why not taking a more modular and data driven approach?
Even a simple clear separation between the build process and main Editor could help create custom tooling + pipelines?
I see editors as a different view (+ writing) over the data.
There are ways to create modular but tightly integrated tooling too!
Am I missing something obvious and this is a stupid question?

Trying out #godotengine. And you know what? I love it.
I've tried it before, but GDScript is a piece of garbage (sorry Godot team).
But now, when I switched on C#, it became serious enough for me to make games.
I've also heard C++ is supported there. If yes, I'll switch on it, because, obviously, I am a C++ programmer.

Started work at Cutaio Engine again.
LSS: Cutaio is yet another C++ game engine. Fully open-source. I'm planning to make it as much user-friendly as possible and trying to optimize it as much as I can.
I must warn you that I am a Linux and OSS enthusiast, so I will NOT make it able to run on _windows_ and it will NOT be able to port games to _windows_.
_windows_ is garbage. change my mind.

Hi, I'm Peter - by day I'm a #Sciartist, developing different types of #Science and #Heritage #Visualizations using #GameEngines #Fulldome #XR. I have a PhD in #ComputationalGeophysics, specialising in #DataVisualization, and another in #Semiotics and #ArtHistory. I'd love to see an article on the best #FOSS #gameengines to use by non coders for #gamedev.
Currently #Godot's "visual scripting" has nodes but, by design, you basically still need to know how to code to use them. #Armory has an easy to use node system but is very alpha and chock full of major bugs. #Gdevelop looks nice but basic. #Upbge is promising, but I think I heard was maybe not maintained any more? What else have I missed?
