Last time we had this #country, I shared some Dangdut, but I can't resist. Let's go to that #musical #ensemble full of #instrument/s with awesome names based on #onomatopoeia. Let's see, #gong, kempul, kenong, ketuk, kempyang, bonang, gender (with a g as in golf), kendang. OK, admittedly, those are mainly Central Javanese names. Yes, let's do some #gamelan #Jawa from #Indonesia 🇮🇩.
This is a lovely #composition that showcases variations of the balungan (basic #melody) and how they are often tied in with changes in tempo. It has that distinct Javanese Gamelan stately beauty that many find soothing and haunting.
So, I would like to invite you to #listen and #relax to this. Or… if you want to #challenge your ears and musical understanding, try and see if you can catch the basic structures of gongan (rhythmic cycle starting with the big gong) and the already mentioned balungan.
