I found myself in a situation where my daughter needs a PC. My plan is to let her inherit my desktop and for me to acquire a relatively budget gaming capable PC.

I’m debating a bunch of things all the way from how much to spend, to the what OS I should use, to where the PC itself should be located!

The big difference for me between #Farlight84 and #Fortnite is that I can actually win without being carried.

Here's me, MVP in my squad and we are the winning squad. That just makes the game way more fun! And yeah, I'm the only person in the squad playing with beta controller too, but gyro on #SteamDeck works very well with this game. Super smooth!

The game also has some improvements over #Fortnite , like:

1) There's no build mode. This is good for me as I don't like build mode.

2) There are respawns until halfway through the game, this gives you a chance to try again if you got killed early because you didn't manage to loot a gun.

Back in grade school, I had the shareware for an overlooked FPS by the name of Rise of the Triad, which I absolutely loved and played to death.

For whatever reason, it wasn't until the release of the Ludicrous Edition nearly 30 years later that I finally sat down and played through it all.

Today was pretty much spent just sitting in discord with friends doing the following:
1. Fighting to get Hexen working in gzDoom on principle
2. Playing some Armored Core 6
3. Playing a LOT of Blasphemous.

No minis hobbying and not a terribly productive day, but still a chill and cozy one nonetheless. <3

(Also if anyone has trouble running hexen.wad in the flatpak release of gzDoom, hit me up.)

#Stadia's shutdown was heartbreaking but thankfully #Google refunded everything I have purchased and unlocked the controller for Bluetooth connection. Me and my wife started playing #ItTakesTwo on the #SteamDeck today and using the controllers brought back pleasant memories. #gaming #gamingonlinux

Hot on the heels of the 1.0 release, folks are kicking the tires and finding something wonderful.

I personally run 2 bazzite boxes for steam machines in my home, and they have been pleasant to work with. Automated updates that "just work", and pretty cool tech that runs steam in an OCI image.

People talk about #GamingOnLinux like it's such a new thing…

There was a company 20 years ago (forget the name) that chiefly ported games to linux (commercially).
There was also a wine-based #Proton-like compatibility layer called (IIRC) #CrossOver. I think it was actually an "open core" system, where sales of the software helped fund #Wine and/or older versions/portions of the software was released as source for wine.
