Claude Garamont , souvent orthographié #Garamond , né en 1499 et mort en 1561, était un tailleur et fondeur de caractères.
Claude Garamont est né d'un père #imprimeur #breton , probablement originaire de #Morlaix , installé à #Paris .
Il est le plus fameux créateur de caractères français du XVIe siècle et sa célébrité dépasse celle d'artisans au talent comparables, comme Robert Granjon, Pierre Haultin.
