Was a hot one in the zippy greenhouse today so tge mimulus plants need a drink. So they get a bath this is best way to water your plug plants. Get a tray fill with rain water if possible from water butt. They just place the pots in the water a leave for about an hour for the compost to soak up the water. #gardening #gardeningmastodon #gardeningadvice #watering

Paperwhites. They can get tall and unruly, but did you know that growing them in isopropyl alcohol (70%) can help stunt their growth? Place the bulbs on stones, add water and wait for about 1" of greenery to appear. Pour off the water, add 1 part alcohol to 10 parts water and use this to just cover the roots.

From this point on alot of the gardening websites change to sell summer bulbs and plants like at www.farmergracy.co.uk for instance. So now is time to have a look through see what's new and I come back in January to finalise my order as January is longer month than you think and it's great month to plan what you would like to grow. #gardening #gardeningmastodon #gardeningadvice

Anyone have experience growing #garlic? I planted some mid-October and it has already started coming up. A couple weeks ago I mulched/covered it with a foot of straw to insulate against cold weather, but many of the early growers have shot through the straw. Any recommendations beyond more straw ahead of an upcoming longer and colder stretch of weather? #gardening #gardeningadvice #garden

I just realized that I don't have any lids for my big mason jars. If I just use tin foil is that going to cause a big problem? I'm probably going to eat these in a week, this isn't long-term pickling. #gardeningadvice
