And here I thought #autumn was done and dusted here in #Melbs!
Have noticed a distinct change in transformational timing of some species of #flora this year.
We’re in early #winter now.
Some leaves turned and fell early, yet others late. Some flowers e.g. hydrangea made a small comeback with the onset of warmer weather early to mid-autumn (usually flower throughout summer).
It has been an enlightening period in this regard, some may say strange times indeed!
Anyways, this wax tree or sumac is living its best life, displaying its gorgeousness no matter the season!

Such a healthy looking #TecomaCapensis, aka the Cape honeysuckle; its home is in Southern Africa.
I’ve seen these flowering at various times throughout this year already… but not like this. This one is oh-so healthy.
Just check out the shiny, modest-sized leaves… deep green in appearance.
This beautiful specimen is well hydrated, despite this flowering cycle ending shortly.

Throughout Melbs right now, #azelea’s are out in bloom and they’re everywhere!
They produce such gorgeous flowers… so many different varieties and colours. And their patterning is something else.

#LavandulaDentata, the fringed lavender or French #lavender, is a species of flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean, the Atlantic islands and the Arabian peninsula.
This lot (loads of it!!) is growing in the front garden of a commercial property in #Gardenvale #Australia.
I smelt the pungent aroma at least 6 foot away. Almost gave me a headache haha. It was super strong.

A little research has established this is grandiflora, a hybrid species of flowering plant in the honeysuckle family Caprifoliaceae.
Made up of #Linnaea (aka #abelia cross with #grandiflora.
Lovely soft colours. And leaves that are plump and healthy.
These flowers were super fragrant. As in noticeable from a couple of feet away. These flowers look as if they’re produced in clusters, mainly white, tinged pink, bell-shaped, to 2 cm long.
Unlike most flowering shrubs in this suburban (cultivated / managed) setting, the species blooms from late summer to well into the autumn.
This ‘find’ was pleasing, even in the rain!

Altext: Lovely soft colours, that these small flowers display. And leaves that are green, plump and healthy. The bush itself is about 2 metres wide by 1.8 metres tall, had been well trimmed and shaped last year I suspect, growing behind a white picket fence. Recent rain shows the leaves and flowers have droplets of water. These flowers were super fragrant… very noticeable from a couple of feet away. These flowers look as if they’re produced in clusters, mainly white, tinged pink, bell-shaped, to 2 cm long. They look to me like miniature lilies as they have gorgeous white filaments and anthers.

#Lagerstroemia (also crepe myrtle, or crepeflower) is native to the Indian Subcontinent and also to Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Japan.
I believe my ID app has identified this correctly. I couldn’t get close to this one as it was set back in the front garden of its home in #Gardenvale #Australia.

Just spotted these within a stone throws of each other just a moment ago… they caught my eye.
There were alley ways branching off behind these buildings in every direction.
The brick walls, garage roller doors and fences were covered in tagging and graffiti - nicer than the usual you often see… but not nice enough to make the cut here, unfortunately! Haha.

I particularly like the deep reddish / browns of the circular sheet metal facia attached to the building. It reminds me of the red sands of the Northern Territoty.
