The #KDE Connect app to perform different functions between my laptop running #Garuda #Linux and #Android phone is pretty slick. The file transfer works flawlessly and I can mount my phone as a local drive over the network.

I think I figured out what borked my OS. I was unaware of the issues arising from updates on Arch due to pacman.conf.pacnew/other .new files. Also that one has to manually merge them. So, the issues I've had with #Garuda over a couple installs on diff drives were #UserErrors, lol. Spent some time looking into merging files yesterday but my head started hurting. Going back into it today. I've got the process down, but am unsure what commands I should keep on file to avoid breakage. #Linux

Well, this is unfortunate. Updated the OS this morning and then Discord froze a little while later. ok, shit happens. Killed it and relaunched.. instant crash. Um. Tried from terminal and got "read only" errors. Come to find out my home folder is now locked into read only so I can barely do anything. Don't seem able to change the permissions back either. This is twice now this OS has given me issues big enough I couldn't find a fix other than "fresh install". Not a great look. #Garuda #Linux

The second-latest person I've helped onto #Garuda #Linux has a seven-year-old bottom-tier GPU that we're still making work with games like Dead By Daylight — after it was repeatedly frying itself on their power supply on Windows.

Anyone who thinks Windows is better for gaming than Linux had better think again.

So update- I am not a coder! I did find a lovely OS that "just works" so to speak. Less tweaking, more using and more control. #debian failed me on a few counts, but the end decision to leave the deb experiment was the fact that I was unable to use MIXXX and its beat mix graphics. Winner of the OS battle is #garuda. I was scared to go to arch but, never again. I would rather set up in #arch if I go plain jane than debian at this stage.

Hey gamers, has no one ever told you that #Linux is faster, easier, and more reliable for gaming than Windows is these days? How horrible. I bet no one's even walked you through every step in making the transition from Windows to #Garuda. Good thing I decided to drop a second video this weekend!

Update 4 - I had a long day with #debian. the problem was my games were not working, and when one failed while I was playing the game with a friend, I had enough. Enough of research and looking in obscure forums, enough of being treated like an idiot when I would approach channels for "help" only to be insulted for saying what I did to try before I asked my question. I installed #garuda and since then, it has been easy street.

Modern and ancient deities, for sale side by side at the Dongtai Road market in Shanghai. I can't tell you how much I regret not buying both, but it was so hot that day, I wasn't thinking straight!

Still very much a baby #Linux user. Only just now finding out, with the whole Red Hat controversy, that not all distros are community run.

Might have to play some more when I get home after all. Red Hat has shown that "free and open source" doesn't mean anything when it's run by a company with a profit motive. Maybe someone can help me get #Garuda Dragonized look...less like Garuda Dragonized. The Mac-esque layout was such a bad choice.

Installed Linux Mint, and... the headphone jack isn't working :blobcatgooglycry: Pretty sure my motherboard is too new for this kernel, sadly... sorry Mint :blobcatcry:

On the bright side, I get to start #DistroHopping! :blobcataww: I need a 6.x kernel, so I've got my sights on the following:

Tried installing #Garuda again. I don't like the Dragonized DE so I went with Cinnamon and promptly remembered why I don't like it. It's so busted, still can't pin applications half the time and half of the remaining time, pinned applications open a copy of themselves that don't stack with the pin. Little things like this drive me nuts.

I'll probably go back to #Manjaro and resume getting side-eyed from every other #Linux user. It's got its history but it's what works for me.

So I have been using Garuda Linux now as my daily driver for a couple months, and I have to say its been a smooth experience. #linux #linuxgaming #garuda
