"If Stoke-on-Trent North MP Jonathan Gullis, whose brain is made of the offal sausage manufacturers reject as unfit for human consumption,..."
That's a pretty apt description of #JonathanGullis from #StewartLee.

A cheeky epilogue to #garygate - #garylineker changes his #twitter profile photo to him with #GeorgeOrwell 's statue and quotation at the #bbc - "If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." - read more here: π https://www.climateblog.uk/index.html#LinekerOrwellQuotation

From an interview with Roger Bolton this morning on BBC News (before the announcement on Gary Lineker)
I don't necessarily agree with everything Roger Bolton says - but he absolutely nails thisβ¦
Labour are really trying to spin the narrative that they were backing Lineker all along and didn't just support the Tories like always.

Alastair Campbell tells BBC NEWS
"There is a lesson for the BBC, when you are subject to right-wing pressure, you should resist it, stand up to it and don't pander to it."

I see @bbcbreakfast are going with the Daily Hate's agenda today.
Apparently #GaryGate "Divides opinion"? - so rather than referring to the YouGov poll, with the majority support for Lineker (only 27% agreeing with his suspension) - they're lazily just 'two-siding' the issue.
Funny how @bbcnews isn't focussing on Tory bias from the BBC 'Top brass'.
For all the news stories reporting that last night's Match of the Day was "the most watched in months": when people are tuning in to qawp and laugh at you it's generally a bad thing. #GaryGate #Lineker #ImWithGary #MOTD

In all the #GaryGate #BBC #Impartiality hoo-ha Iβm seeing scant comment that what was said by Linekar is objectively true. You canβt censor anyone for stating actual facts.
A lot of UK government rhetoric on immigration, refugees and asylum is divisive, it is inflammatory, dehumanising and it is othering. It specifically tries to link asylum seekers with criminality, and with detrimental economic impacts. They do finger point and blame shift, in the same way as emergent fascist regimes.

Interesting development in #GaryGate is that the European media is full of stories about the British government issuing denials that they are Nazis. It's never good when you have to go out and declare to the world that you are not a Nazi. Essentially an example of the Inverse Godwin law: if you have to tell people that despite appearances you are not a Nazi, then you have lost the argument.
Suddenly remembered the brilliant BBC series βThe Nazis - a warning from historyβ. Isnβt it for the good of us all that we be reminded how such movements develop and what they lead to? #GaryGate
