The #Cicero AI system for playing diplomacy is the most exciting thing in AI that i have seen since the Deep learning and LLM hype took over. This article by #GaryMarcus is a good explanation of why it is different from what we have seen before. I am not surprised that the central contributions are "architectural" and "symbolic reasoning": expert system-like engineering combined with NLP techniques.
