The owner of British Gas, Centrica, expects an eightfold increase in its earnings this year.

Along with BP and Shell, they face criticism on reporting bumper profits while consumers struggle with bills

Centrica expects to have more than £1bn of cash on its balance sheet for this year, stoking further anger over the profits made by energy producers as the prices rise far above historical averages.

#DirectHeating schemes' #ripoff of the poor should be stamped out fast. My last #GasBill was €37 (using hardly any heating but using a gas hob). A friend in an apartment with #Kaizen direct heating has no gas cooking and hasn't turned the gas on or used *any heating, but got a #StandingCharge bill of €55. And mostly the people in these #apartments are #poor #working people
