Proposed National #Marine Sanctuary open for comments until Oct. 25th.
The Northern #Chumash #Tribal Council submitted the sanctuary nomination in 2015. #NOAA's proposed designation would protect marine ecosystems and highlight the cultural values and connections of #Indigenous communities.

Highway 101 Update: The #2 lane will remain closed in #Gaviota for the next 4 to 5 weeks while crews install new rock drapery and repair rock netting. Approximately 50,000 pounds of rock has been removed from the hillside since the emergency work began Jan. 10.
