2/n I moved to the East Village - one of the epicenters of the epidemic even within NYC - in 1979. I was 19. I came of age as a young gay man in all of that, through the 1980s and 1990s. I had my dark times. I'm amazed I survived.

One thing that doesn't get recognized and discussed enough is endurance trauma and Complex PTSD for those of us who survived.

💯 Noone was unaffected. And I appreciate that you didn't say that everyone was affected the same way. I just don't like to leave things out there that others less knowlegable might misinterpret as there are only ancestors, and not also elders, who have something to say about that time.
