The old Winery space used to be Love/Dream, [which in the tradition of DC straight clubs, change names after the number of appearances in the police blotter become too numerous] so it's doable but they'd have to do a lot of work with the community, which remembers how awful the previous club was for the neighborhood.

There are dance clubs or EDM venues in DC, especially in NE, like EchoStage, that draw big name DJs and some LGBT folks go there, but it's not the same.

As my way home and bus route is on it, I pass it often. There's clearly work being done but even the best informed people are either not saying anything or don't know what is happening.

It's likely they need lots of soundproofing, like Anthem, as housing is likely to increase in the area.

On the same block or two are an abandoned CSOSA office (that I remember from the 2000s) at 25K St NE, a DC govt bldg whose function is a mystery, Elevate (the mysterious club) and an office building. Behind Town 2.0 (name TBD) is a U Haul lot and beyond the retirement home is a DC Housing(DCHA) office bldg. Across the street is a vacant lot that used to be disheveled DCHA Apts.

The day school protested but didn't have standing. They're probably more upset thinking about the odds their students/teachers would find a way into the proposed den of sin. The retirement home next door is an issue. Lot of soundproofing needed, no question there.

The neighborhood is best described as in transition but transitioning far faster than perhaps had been thought.

Now as someone relatively well attuned to how ANCs and ABRA works I knew it would be contentious. The building that has been built next door (long mooted, finally built in 2019)(?) is a retirement/DC LTR (IYKYK) home and there's another club (whose hours are a mystery to everyone) and a Catholic day school diagonally across the street.

Once upon a time there was a club in DC called Town. It was much loved and occasionally derided but it has been missed since 2018. A new dance club by the same DJ/owners has been mooted for some time.

They bought an old church at N Cap and K St NE, and fought to get a liquor license. It was a slog but they were making progress. Then the last 3 years happened.
