Follow up created my first #python #script to #query the #Todoist #API and creat timed #calendar events for tasks in #Gcal. I was amazed at how quickly I could put this together (8 hrs or so) with no knowledge of python. C# or #Swift or #JavaScript (which I know well) would have taken similar times I think.

There’s a huge #factor to be taken into account around #community #support for a #language - #mature support for #tooling, #conventions and #samples are a big #boost too new learners.

Hey, #Gcal users: any suggestions for ways to simplify #timezone selection when creating events? The long list sorted by timezones is worse than useless. I'd love to be able to set five or six defaults, and/or re-sort that list by city-name, rather than zone.

PROBLEM:
For some time now, the calendar sync has been terrible. Changes made in #Airtable weren't showing in #Gcal or #Marvin for days.

I'd used the same method for over a year, and assumed that one of the technologies was at fault, but couldn't figure out who the culprit was.

THINGS I TRIED:
1. Updated every piece of software (naturally)
2. Reset permissions
3. Re-generated the Airtable iCal link & replaced the old ones in Gcal and Marvin

Nothing worked. 🤔

Seriously, that limit doesn't need to exist. It's there because of an arbitrary decision.

#gcal is actually buggy and not great, let alone the personal-data vampire squid issue. But I'm not aware of any EXTREMELY RELIABLE alternatives for Android. Ffffffffff #googledivorce
