Malaysians are waking up to the news that #AnwarIbrahim is very likely to become their next prime minister, the tenth the country will have had since independence. To think that he could - and probably should - have been the prime minister number five before the longest serving one, Mahathir Mohamad, got unceremoniously rid of him - as his deputy and likely successor - all those years ago (24, to be exact) makes you wonder where #Malaysia could have been now.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ended a press conference at 6pm KL time outside Malaysia’s National Palace stating that there has not been a decision regarding the 10th Prime Minister nor the formation of the government. He also clarified that he is not interim Prime Minister.

The King has expressed a desire to have an inclusive government that works to resolve people’s problems and improve the economy. He will make his announcement in due time regarding the government.

Shortly prior, he and Perikatan Nasional leader Muhyiddin Yassin had an audience with the King regarding the results of the general election and how to move forward given the status of hung parliament as no party nor coalition managed to win the majority of seats in the Federal Parliament.

The minor coalition, Barisan Nasional, had declared that they will not form an alliance with either of the major coalitions and will remain in opposition.

This General Election is a true test for a stoic practitioner like me. I'm rereading Enchiridion by Epictetus again and again.

Focusing on the things that are up to me (voted the one that closest to my core value) And be indifferent to the external (the results of the election).

To wish for things to happen as it is, fate permitting.

A younger me would be in such an emotional turmoil but right now, a mindfulness of thinking kept my equanimity in place.
