Watching Meet Me in St. Louis with my 93-year-old grandmother. I asked her if they used to go trick or treating on Halloween. She said they (the family) didn't really celebrate Halloween, but does remember a "trick" other kids would do was to knock down outhouses.

She said they did go door to door at Christmas where neighbors would hand out Christmas cookies, pastries and fruit. I love asking her questions about her early life.

A family I'm researching from the Dunstable & Luton areas in Bedfordshire, UK, has a curious spate of deaths around 1752-1754. So far, I have 3 young adults, their father, plus an uncle & aunt all seemingly gone simultaneously, & the mother only a few years before. The records don't give the causes of death, but it's so concentrated I'm wondering if there's something going on. 🤔 Any thoughts how I could investigate this further?

This is from the Hampshire Wills and Probates records, for an Edward Purdue in 1696. I know it mentions his wife, Frances, and the summary says he's on HMS Cambridge, but that's all I have. TIA!

Picked up our Christmas visitors from the airport, because of the sick ones in this household (no COVID), I was the one most able to. I made it, but returned with a major headache and am in bed since then. Was coughing pretty hard the whole day and am pretty useless since I'm back, but it could be a lot worse. Some brains for #geanealogy would be nice, though.
