I still love tube amps and analog gear but I couldn't have done what I did in music (especially since the pandemic) if I didn't start using "modern" #audiogear .
Amp modellers and virtual instruments made it possible to record and release my own music, and play it live without carrying an amp. Having a digital rack mixer on stage helped with backing tracks and let all musicians control their own IEM mixes. And a super lightweight guitar is the cherry on top 🍒

Now we're getting into the good stuff… This is circa 2015. My California booth was taking shape and moved a little bit to another side of the office.

This the first MP2015 I bought. I'm now the proud owner of another one because this mixer rocks and I eventually sold this one 🤦🏻‍♂️. I was trying to get back to vinyl a little bit and so I got those cheap PLXs to give it a try.

Now - this is where my memory starts to get a bit wonky. The #GearPorn addiction was starting to unfold and I went through a process of wanting EVERYTHING. Enter the #DDJ-RZ (I think that was the model….). And absolute beast of a controller, only downside was the layout was quite unique. I also bought some turntables to add to the mix. I possess a very unpopular opinion with this by stating that capacitive jog wheel are far superior to mechanical….

Then I went minimal for a hot minute. That's when I started really getting into Traktor.

It is a Numark TT-100 direct drive turntable.

I bought it in 2005 because my old turntable was broken beyond repair. At that time, as I recall it, there were not a whole lot of options for turntables. So I had to buy 'DJ equipment' in a music store. 🤷
