Okay, to declare the tone here, I am amused, and this is not a complaint at all:

I was looking on here for things to do in Glasgow(the Scottish one), which might or might not be a place I frequent, and followed a link to the Meetup app for a https://www.meetup.com/the-glasgow-geeks event, I was signed in, so I clicked "join" on the event page, it didn't tell me about any joining requirements for the group, so I got refused.
