For anyone after a #Psion Agenda-like experience on a #MobileLinux #PDA, I've just released v0.2.9 of #Pygenda (alpha, WIP!).
Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvQqFmlZ6nM
GitHub: https://github.com/semiprime/pygenda
v0.2.9 adds two nice new features: repeats like "last Monday in May" and todo item due dates.
I run it on my #GeminiPDA, but it's written in Python/GTK3 so should run on similar keyboard devices. Would love to hear from anyone running it on a #PinePhone, #FXTec #Pro1x, #GPD, #eeePC, #Zaurus, or other!

I've released a new version of Pygenda - my agenda app targeting keyboard-equipped mobile Linux devices. The UI is inspired by Agenda apps on #Psion PDAs, & v0.2.7 adds a zoom feature, making it feel even more Psion-like.
To celebrate, I made a new video of it running on a #GeminiPDA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvQqFmlZ6nM
It's alpha software & it would be great if people could test it on similar devices, e.g. a #PinePhone + keyboard.

I've released a new version of Pygenda - my work-in-progress Psion Agenda-inspired agenda app targeting keyboard #PDA/#palmtop devices.

I use it on my Linux-running #GeminiPDA, & someone ran it on a #DevTerm, but it should work on anything with Python3.5+ & GTK3 (for handhelds that probably means Linux). I'd love feedback from anyone running it on other platforms (#PinePhone, #Fxtec #Pro1x, #GPD), and from other fans of #Psion Agenda.

I've finally had it with my the #SamsungGalaxyA12. After nearly two years of constant mis-clicks, dialling people I didn't want to talk to, bringing up Google Assistant in the middle of calls and videos, nearly banning people from a Twitch stream I moderate, it's time to relegate it to texts and calls only till my contract runs out. I'll use my #geminipda for my mobile internet needs until the Samsung's contract is up. Then I'll be going back to whatever the affordable #sonyxperia option is.

I've released an update for my Psion Agenda-inspired calendar app "Pygenda". Written for my Linux-running Gemini PDA, but it should work on similar keyboard PDAs running Linux & Python3.5+.
GitHub: https://github.com/semiprime/pygenda
Video of it on a Gemini: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjHcgeRudMo (from 2021, so additions since then)
It's a work-in-progress, with many missing features (& bugs). However, I'm using it as my main agenda/to-do list, so others may find it useful. Feedback welcome! #Psion #PDA #GeminiPDA #GTK
Genshin Impact for Android sounded interesting so I thought I'd give it a go on my #geminipda. After installation and login, it then started an 18Gb download. Erm... I don't think so, thank you. Not with only 64Gb internal storage.
@martijnbraam Wow, very cool! Ahh it kinda hurts to see that this could have been the #geminiPDA...
But they unfortunately failed to take GNU/Linux support seriously and so only a pretty customized Android kernel runs on those devices...

The key thing for me was making appropriate workflows in how I use the #GeminiPDA I do a lot of typing on the go and in cafes for personal journaling and #gopher phosts, so the hardware keyboard was indespensable and also the crowdfunding discount for the wifi version was on point.

Man, the Cassiopeia! I had the A-10, which got stolen shortly after purchasing it :( WinCE 1.0! I Wrote about it in my #gopher hole:

Also, I have been eyeing the Astro Slide, but it is quite expensive, so I opted to keep using my #GeminiPDA. I was one of the original backers so I got the Wifi edition for cheap. Love that Planet Computers is still making stuff.
@kelbot @rgegriff@mastodon.lol
Planet Computers has the Gemini, which I still use and got at a discount since I helped crowdfund (wifi version.) There is also the Cosmo Communicator, which is currently 25% off but still expensive.

And there is the new Astro Slide, which is even moar pricey and not yet released.

Also, there is of course the super cool #GeminiPDA

Comes at a price though.
Also I feel itβs a product of a different time. I had the small Psion Revo and loved it, but somehow you use smartphones a bit different today. Still, I would not mind a Gemini π
@sk313t0n @nitox@fosstodon.org I got hold onto one #geminipda - the Linux support is a farce. You don't get a proper Linux kernel running there but rather an Android kernel and a unsteadily running Debian on top of it.
And of course, Mediatek doesn't give a shit about mainlining this chip, so I was quite disappointed.
I've been messing with tachikoma #pwnagotchi tonight. Changed the case and added UPS. Moar bulk, but ok for now. Connected to #geminipda via bluetooth.
@ajroach42
fo'reals? I use my #geminipda every day for all kindsa stuff...mostly in the terminal. Have you tried #userLAnd?
@djsumdog
Anyone has any experiences with the #GeminiPDA? I might have one to play around soon and I'd totally like to get #archlinuxarm on it...
@polychrome Any updates about #geminipda here? I just found the post looking for information because it seems I'll get hold onto one in a month or so :) And apparently they have improved #Debian support and energy efficiency, so I was wondering if that's true :)
Anyway, probably I'll try to reuse Debian kernel and drivers for an #archlinuxarm version.

I use my Gemini PDA daily and really enjoy it! I have the wifi only version and use either Debian in #userLAnd or #termux. I use my dumbphone as a data gateway when mobile. I have not attempted flashing a diff OS since userLAnd and termux seems to be good enuff. No keyboard back light :/ I don't use too many apps, but use f-droid or yalp if I need to.

@ebarrett@mastodon.social
I've been meaning to write something about it for some time now. I end up using it as a writing device or tinkering with it rather than writing about the device itself. I've had the #geminipda (WiFi edition) for 9 months or so now and have it as part of my every day carry #edc. I'll phlog about it next chance I get.
