Born 8 May 1835 to James Sabeston and his wife Jean Wilson, North Walls, #Orkney, #Scotland (living in Mill Bay area 1861 Census). An interesting article - What do the British call their grandparents?
https://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/news/what-do-the-british-call-their-grandparents/
Personally I call my dad's parents nan and grandad.
I call mum's adoptive mum nan. I only really knew her 3rd husband who I'd call uncle Joe
Mum's birth parents I call mum's birth mother/father or occasionally grandmother and grandfather
What do you call yours?

On this day in 1892, my great grandmother, Harriet Elizabeth (Known as Hettie) Thomas was born to John Thomas (at the time a fisherman) and Elizabeth Jane Dungey in Sennen, Cornwall, England.
Also on this day, in 1860, my great great grandfather, Charles Wright, was born in St Helens, Lancashire, England to Nicholas Wright (a general labourer) and Sarah Thrush

A couple more shared SNPs Castle matches that are Subclade 0 to me. I apparently have to upgrade to see who and where. Sneaky buggers. Money money money đź’° #snp #DNA #subclade0 #familyhistory #genealogy #geneadons #ancestry #ancestors #mytrueancestry #ftdna
I got my DNA test done initially only because a cousin asked me to, aside from that, my tree slowly started coming together in 2016 after 35 years of being 1 of many family historians working on it.. I still never run out of people to index

Tonight’s #genealogy toot is a tale of two #sisters, both born over 100 years ago. Florence, the elder, was #married six times to five different men and had one #child (with husband 1-2). Elsie, the younger, was married to one man for 65 years, had 3 daughters, and was frequently mentioned in the local #newspaper for her #community involvement & service. Though their #parents lived like a married couple, they didn’t actually wed until Florence was 14 and Elsie, 8. #geneadons #familyhistory

“A 2021 study out of Japan showed how targeting genes can regrow teeth in animals. Now, the team has turned to a human clinical trial. By targeting the USAG-1 gene, researchers believe that they can help people without a full set of teeth regrow teeth. The team says that humans have a third set of teeth available as buds, ready to grow as needed.” #dna #isogg #epigenetics #geneadons https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/health/a44786433/humans-have-third-set-teeth/

@OurAncestors my paternal grandparents were second cousins. Suspect more connections in Stroma, #Caithness but a lot of Rosies to sort there. #Geneadons
Good morning #Geneadons , do you have cousins marrying in your #FamilyHistory ?
I have 4 of them that I know of so far.
My 3 Times great grandparents on mum's side, Thomas Thomas and Eliza Guy were 1st cousins
My 2 Times great grandparents on mum's side, Matthias Maddern and Eliza Jane Hocking were 4th cousins
My paternal grandparents were 3rd cousins once removed
And my paternal grandmother's parents were 5th cousins.
Hi #geneadons, This is an interesting genealogy story circulating in the UK. What happens if one of your ancestors was a slave-owner?
In particular it raises questions about the right to genealogical privacy and, naturally, what happens if you benefitted from inherited wealth.
(Obviously - US genealogists will be well aware of this topic)
Remembering my grandmother on her birthday. Born Maggie "Lucille" Gowens, 31 Aug 1913 in Graham, Texas. Seen here with her husband, Sam Galloway, and daughter, Faye (my mom), abt. 1946 in Huntington Beach, CA. #GeneaDons
Just a follow-up toot re Janina Kalinowska and her #daughters. All 3 girls were born in #Ciechanów. The first was born in 1914 when the city was in Congress #poland in the #russianempire. The second was born in 1917 when the city was in the Regency #Kingdom, a puppet client of #Germany & #Austria. The third was born in 1919 after the creation of the Second #polish #republic. It’s crazy how many times the #government of Poland changed in just 5 years. #Genealogy #geneadons #History #histodons

Tonight’s #genealogy focused on two people. The first, Szczepan Gieryszewski, was a first #cousin 2X removed. He lived for 21 months in 1858-59 in #Ciechanów in the #Płock Governorate of Congress #poland. The second, Janina Kalinowska (1887-1957) was a distant in-law. In 1913, she married Jan Buraczyński; they had 3 #daughters that I know of. She also lived in Ciechanów. I gathered the documentation and attached it to their pages. I’ll translate at a later date. #geneadons #familyhistory
