Everyone has those old of people we know are related somehow, but don’t know exactly who they’re supposed to be. have often found themselves questioning relatives in vain for hours, trying to get any kind of a name to put to the mystery subjects of old & faded , to get any idea of when or where the photos were taken.

It can be incredibly frustrating!
But there is an easier way.

Even if you have no idea of which family line the photo comes from, you can often deduce what year the photo was taken; and by extension, who is in the photo… with just a little help from Google & the internet.

Here’s how…

At some point in your genealogy research, you will find a family line that died out. Or a male YDNA line or female mtDNA line became extinct. Or instances of pedigree collapse. Should genealogists note instances like these in our family trees?

Join us this Sunday at 4pm EST as we talk about lineage extinction & pedigree collapse – and how we can note and memorialize them.

Genealogists spend a lot of time stressing the importance of preserving records and resources that documented our ancestors’ lives. Until recent events at Twitter, we haven’t really thought about the supportive social media communities we've built. They are just as important. As we witness the possible implosion of Twitter – what’s next for the online genealogy community we’ve built over a decade?
