Now want to do multiple perturbations in one cell... do effects combine? Can do this with orig Perturb-seq, then categorize interactions
But the space of interactions is far bigger than the number of cells (in universe)

Hallo all - I guess an introduction might be a good idea!
I'm a mid-career (already!?) group leader, trying to unpick how different aspects of the local environment at #enhancers work together to regulate #transcription and #geneexpression.
We especially like non-coding enhancer #RNA, how their structures and dynamic movements make them functional; how disease mutations affect #eRNA activity and how the enhancer environment affects the #chromatin regulator CBP.
Super-excited to land here!

Do you know that there are non-venomous spiders? This project started from a 1931 hand-drawn observation that Uloboridae spiders do not carry a functional venom system.
With histological, RNAseq and bioinformatics work led by the great Giulia Zancolli and master student Xiaojing Peng, we confirm that Uloboridae 🕷️ have lost venom glands , but find that they produce putative neurotoxins in the digestive gland. #EvoDevo #spider #Uloboridae #GeneExpression #venom #toxin

@biorxiv_genetics "Somatic cells of human males and females have 45 chromosomes in common, including the "active" X chromosome. In males the 46th chromosome is a Y; in females it is an "inactive" X (Xi). Through linear modeling of autosomal gene expression in cells from individuals with zero to three Xi and zero to four Y chromosomes, we found that Xi and Y impact autosomal expression broadly and with remarkably similar effects." #genetics #GeneExpression #XLinked #Xchromosome

#Zoonomia paper Christmas et al 2023 reports genes TLK1 and HAT1 interact in cerebral cortex with a conserved non coding region, and "both are expressed in the cerebral cortex of 19 (TLK1) or 21 (HAT1) out of 19 or 21 mammals analyzed in a previous study, respectively (87)." How do they know? They used precomputed expression calls with comparison of homolog organs and ortholog genes in @bgeedb's Expression Comparison tool 🤓. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abn3943#body-ref-R87 #GeneExpression #evodevo

We are recruiting a #postdoc to work on the #bioinformatics / #biostatistics of new types of #GeneExpression data in @bgeedb: new #SingleCell, isoform-specific #RNAseq, etc. We integrate all data types into summary scores and calls of expression, so there are a lot of challenges in integrating each new data type.
