Many years ago, I wrote a program that generated fractal music using just intonation. You could select which one you liked the most, and it would apply a genetic algorithm based on your feedback to evolve ever cooler pieces. Now I'm seeing image generators that work on similar principles and it makes me want to dig out the old code.

Testing Lazy Modules from

They're pretty interesting for where we have an arbitrary list of layers.

I need to verify if:
- Lazy Modules are a lot worse than common modules.
- It's better to use Lazy than implement a function to correct in/out channels number

For a few years now, there has been a question that periodically gnaws at the back of my mind: is it possible to calculate the probability that a solution is selected by lexicase selection in polynomial time?

This semester it cropped up again in my research and I decided it's been haunting me for long enough. So here's a preprint where I prove that it's NP-Hard! arxiv.org/abs/2301.06724.

Note: I pre-printed this early so I can cite it - still planning on adding a bit

Help me I need to focus on the project! I only need and … I want to study Computer Vision foundations but doesnt appear to be important for now. Meanwhile my brain wants to do the project, study for University classes, study CV foundations, learn and practice more math, learn more about graph theory πŸ˜…
But a day has only 24h and the project and university have priority πŸ₯²

I had a conversation with about researching fields in AI and representations πŸ˜‚ the answers were what I expected but it’s impressive the way it can generate test … I was thinking where they got all that data to train an AI like this πŸ€” ?

If you are putting many rules during the generation of a random tree probably you want a grammar-guided approach

, , and similar models can do program synthesis. I think we in the community aren't quite admitting this to ourselves! If a GP system could do one-tenth of the ChatGPT can do, it would win a best paper award at , , or . Should we just give up?

What are the most used hashtags for genetic algorithms ? I saw few people talking about this interesting topic!

Those -> ?

A tip if you want to train your learning algorithms in free cloud services like or -> Serialization :ablobcatrave:

Write some callbacks to save your models/weights in each epoch or interval of epochs. In my case using , I save the best tree model in each generation.

Then you can deserialize it and continue your train after you have more free credits :)

Genetic programming folks, don't forget you can follow a hashtag here. Go to your mastodon instance *on the web* (not the app), search for , and click the little + icon as shown in the image. BTW, please capitalise the G and P in the hashtag as it's easier for screen readers!

A nice review about genetic operators: link.springer.com/article/10.1

Probably the most important table is Table 6 showing the best combinations of them.

Hi! I came from mastodon.social because this instance seems more appropriate for ML people.

I'm an undergraduate in Computer Engineering and want to become a researcher in the Artificial intelligence field.

I love and right now I'm learning more about CNAS (Convolutional Network Architecture Search) using .

I hope to find nice people here :)
