The topic of generative music is one near and dear to me, but I kept running into roadblocks yesterday and ended up at a dead end. Today I developed a rough draft sketch into a generative music scheme. I think it produces pleasing results, and has room for development, but I didn't have the time or energy to give it more variety for now. Generative music/art with P5.js is super hard, but can be very rewarding. This one is good for relaxation.

Genuary day 10: generative music
I’m doing all of these with a plotter, so I couldn’t really do anything directly with audio. Instead I did a visualization of something I vaguely remembered reading about somewhere: the Karplus-Strong algorithm for simulating a plucked string.

All the circles move and random speeds and play notes when they intersect with the circle moving from left to right. This was made with p5.js and tone.js so maybe one day I will expand on this and put it on the web.

With zero experience working with sound, the best that I could do was to use the notes of Bach's Crab Canon to choose the colors of the leaves of yesterday's plants.

For #genuary10 a version of a small experiment that uses a blob tracker I made using a combination of BoofCV tools. Sound comes from simple waves generation.
