The University of Adelaide has renewed the lease on the grave of Dr George Duncan, murdered in 1972 by being thrown into the River Torrens.

His death led to South Australia becoming the first state to decriminalise homosexuality.

Vice squad police officers were acquitted of manslaughter in 1988.
