@shandyist #CricketInPhilly (and elsewhere in the States outside some old NYC clubs) was quite remarkably diverse. In Salem, MA, the playing club included both a Peabody or two and the son of a Spanish music-teacher immigrant: https://issuu.com/salemstate/docs/sextant_2018/4. In Boston, #GeorgeWright, a sometime baseball player, was instrumental in providing equipment and support to the local Caribbean community. It's a fascinating history.

Back at work on a project about #GeorgeWright that might well never get finished, I am once again finding yet more evidence of his active support of Black #Caribbean immigrants seeking to play cricket in the Boston area, from donating equipment, to securing matches against existing clubs, to providing financial assistance to the local leadership. He played with and against Black #cricketers long after his baseball career ended. But he seems to have been silent on the issue of race and #baseball.
