Un magnifique 286 20Mhz (12 sans le turbo), 1 Mo de RAM, 40 Mo de HDD, carte graphique VGA Trident 8900, 512kb, moniteur RIC 14". Monté chez #etnix à #brest en 1992. Je me souviens de tous les détails !
Il tournait sous MS-DOS 5, avec #geos en surcouche graphique, fabuleuse pour l'époque !

#GEOS model on board with at least a minor #SSW; however, I'm wishing the models were showing more members with a reversal/bigger heat flux because otherwise it's less likely this will do much to surface weather. Could still happen but we need a little extra push.. 🤞

Still on CIAIDE topic: saving whatever I can while I can from 1989 40 MB Conner HDD via Ultimate II+ to disk images on a modern USB drive.

8 followers · 44 posts · Server social.linux.pizzaFrom stable software development department: GEOS disk driver and driver installer for CIAIDE just got updated from V1.0 to V1.1. Time between these two releases is just over 20 years.
The new version supports a SD card to IDE adapter card which sets error bit in status register in a slightly different way.
Apparently something has changed between ATA3 (although 40MB disk that I targeted in 2002 predated ATA3) and ATA8 standards.

Last night I spent entirely too long playing solitaire on this thing. PC/Geos was a triumph, and it's a real shame it was squished. You'd think an XT class machine would have collapsed under the weight of a GUI, but it runs fine (considering).

@andybaio @NanoRaptor Yep, the Suncom IconTroller, for folks trying to use the barely-productive GUI environment #GEOS on their #Commodore #C64 or #C128. Early mice for those emulated a joystick so it kinda made sense.

Very little effort to get RStudio running in a browser window with all the necessary geospatial system libraries already installed. I think I'm officially giving up on getting #gdal and #geos installations to work with #rstats packages on my mac.
