Spending the afternoon learning about #Gephi and how genealogists are using it

Experiment with #qgis and #gephi.

This is a network graph linking each of the contiguous US states (sorry, Alaska). Used data from NaturalEarthData

Used a QGIS aggregate expression to find adjacent polygons (intersects), exported to CSV and imported into gephi as an adjacency list.

Colour/font size based on node out degree (number of neighbouring states)

It's #ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO #Wednesday again! I sneak-started yesterday by presenting @Gephi and #GephiLite during the Department of Archeology, Conservation and History's #DigitalMeetup. For participants to get started, I used the datasets provided by @proghist lesson Exploring and Analysing Network data with Python https://programminghistorian.org/en/lessons/exploring-and-analyzing-network-data-with-python and then showed basic functionality & visualization possibilities in #Gephi.
