A post popped up in my timeline memories this morning, reminding me it's 1 year since I watched #TheBeatles' #GetBack (shut up in my home office to prevent interruptions!).
In the post, I commented on a line about midway through the episode when George is showing Paul and Ringo a song he wrote overnight, "I Me Mine", and he questions one of his lines, "Flowing more freely than wine":
"Is that grammatical?" asks George, with Paul looking over his shoulder.
"Oh, aye," chips in Paul.
"Flowing much freer," George corrects himself.
Thankfully, as history and the #LetItBe album proved, George ignored grammatical conventions and let his line flow freely!
The post also reminded me that I often correct grammar when reading books, not so much in the dialogue but in the narrative. And how this can stop a book from flowing more freely than wine!
Am I alone in this affliction? (And is there a cure?) 🤨📖
