You’re right - I think this has the potential to be a truly epic episode. This season has been a bit uneven but with the high turnover in cast, I’d guess that would be expected.

I enjoy Martin Short, but Steve Martin has always been truly awesome. Heck, I remember his comedy albums, King Tut song, Wild and Crazy Guy SNL bit, and all his hilarious movies. His sense of comedy is definitely unique and has aged well.
