A 2nd c. BCE cameo of banded agate, used to great effect, to create a double portrait. BUT the museum info differs from the info in the exhibition at the , where I spotted it a few years ago. The foreground character is undoubtedly a Ptolemaic king, but is the background character Zeus-Ammon (ram's horns hidden by the king) or Hercules?

The of (dated between 1021 and 1154 CE) is the oldest manuscript of the . It is the only surviving book kept at the National Library of Anthropology and History in Mexico City, of four original pre-columbian Mayan codices. It can currently be visited at the in Los Angeles, as part of a temporary exhibition (thru January 15, 2023).  The photos were taken by me during a previous exhibition.
