The new public art on Minna Street does a great job of framing the Dempster Building's old signage. But what does it say? I did some in-depth sleuthing and traced it back to an old printing company that occupied the space in the 1910's and 1920's. Next time you're in SOMA look it up! It's quite an aesthetic wall.

So here's a mystery. A follower sent me this pic of a partial ghost sign on Nob Hill. The building is on Bush and the sign has been hemmed in by the neighbors since 1922. Anyone care to hazard a guess on what this sign advertised? I'm currently pretty stumped. #ghostsign #sfba

Love this ghost sign on Blythswood Street in Glasgow. It's a throwback to a time when people needed tailor-made gowns, everyone wore hats and fur was acceptable.

It's part of an advert for G.S. Nichols at 186 Bath Street (just around the corner from qhere it's sited).
