I didn't see a whole lot at the festival this year, but highlights included Fat Freddy's Drop at the Big Top – a great evening out – and art installations by David Mach (The Oligarch's Nightmare, pictured) and Ruby Wallis (Whistling in the Dark), reclaiming the night as a space for women to walk in
Enjoyed this Enda Walsh play last night. I'd forgotten just how poetic and sensuous his language could be, delivered in great performances by Colm and Brenda Meaney. The script's humour offset its bleakness, though at times it was a bit self-consciously Beckettian, or emotionally overwrought in a way it hadn't really earned. Set and sound design were excellent and heightened the themes and atmosphere.

Went to see The Pulse tonight as part of the #galway arts festival #giaf. Holy cow, that was an incredible show. Absolutely amazing acrobatics and music! 👏 https://www.giaf.ie/festival/event/the-pulse
"The Anthropocene has never felt so urgently rendered than in these colliding staged worlds of classical grandeur and plastic." - Sara Keating on David Mach's installation, "The Oligarch's Nightmare"
