1. You have a choice of which Gender Identity Clinic (#GIC) you are referred to.
2. Since the pandemic, all GICs have offered virtual appointments via video conferencing in addition to in-person ones.

If you're okay with a virtual appointment, you can ignore distance & choose the one with the lowest waiting time.

For those who don't know, I've got a 2nd appointment booked with the #EOEGS (an #NHSEngland #GIC pilot scheme) on 8th August.

In preparation for this, I sent them an email this week, asking them to forward the info on to the "specialist" who will be assessing me.

I managed to keep it polite & professional, as otherwise they'd use it as a reason to deny you care.

I'm very thankful that I put all of my appointments into my Google calendar.

I could remember roughly when I did things, but like most people, my exact early transition timeline is fuzzy.

What's not fuzzy is seeing an appointment booked with my GP to discuss my gender identity in April 2021.

Or the follow-up appointment with them to get a referral to an NHS GIC.

Or the blood test to support that referral.

I am looked after by the GIC at the Tavistock and Portman Clinic. I had my second interview on Tuesday August 30 2022, which is 79 days ago. I still haven't received a copy of the report from that meeting.
I sent an email to the Endo department today. Their automatic response states "endo letter response time is approximately 4-5wks".
I will leave you to draw your own conclusions regarding what I think about the quality of the NHS service in this area 😢
