Following up on an earlier discussion today about #Brave browser (and search), I want to lament the loss of the #Gigablast #SearchEngine which was the last I know of which honored giving results which only included words immediately prefixed with '+'. A decade or so ago these kind of result filters were fairly common; then the rare "advanced search" option, now nothing (that I can find).
So I #lament.
And I acknowledge that I may not have looked hard enough in all the right nooks & crannies.

Trying out #Gigablast as my address-bar search engine. So far, so good! Results feel skewed more toward well-curated information sources than content mills. However, the image search doesnʼt behave as expected, and news search seems to be broken, so I will continue to use other search engines for those purposes.

Today I heard about the #SearchEngine known as #Gigablast for the first time ever. Thanks to poking around #Curlie, which was linked from an article on Wikipedia and which is apparently a #WebDirectory and a successor to #DMOZ. A web directory is something I'd never touched in many, many years...but now that I've tried it I think it might be useful in some ways.

@blacklight Some searx instances are fed by a locally running #yacy which does the crawling, so you can also get a greater degree of independence from the giants. I noticed a lot of your results grab from both DDG & Qwant. Both DDG & Qwant are MS syndicates, so you could drop one of them and replace with #Mojeek or #Gigablast (which do their own independent crawling).
