Racing bicycles have gotten so much faster over recent years, with riders sometimes approaching 90 or 100 km/h on descents. Maybe modern disc brakes have added to the problem by providing a false sense of security? No matter how good the brakes are, it is still just a tiny patch of rubber holding the bike onto the road. A momentary loss of grip on a turn can have devastating consequences.

RIP #GinoMader. Was watching a video of the downhill run by the winner of the stage and holy shit it was sketchy af.

I think #cycling needs to grapple with the fact that it resembles early days #F1 and it’s time they started taking steps to ensure that at least the pro leagues are organized so it’s harder to die.

Can’t believe that has to be an actual sentence.
