Even if you haven't been to , you might have seen St. Mary Lake. It is featured in the long opening credits of the film "The Shining." I walked along the lake on a blustery day, which was Day 156 of my thru-hike.

I had never been to before I thru-hiked the . What I knew about it was what I had seen in photos and videos. These weren't enough to prepare me for what was to come.

Continuing to experiment and learn how to best process black and white images in Darktable. This image is from Hidden Lake Trail (near Logan Pass). I think the leftmost peak is Haystack Butte, the central peak is Mount Gould, and the rightmost peak is Bishops Cap. Taken in color and converted to the black and white image I imagined using Darktable. A long-term learning process, but that's basically what life is about - always learning, always growing, always being kind and open.

-500 telephoto (my go-to hiking setup).

A view from along the Going To The Sun Rd in I think this was not too far from the summit where Logan Pass is.
This was a somewhat large pull off. And while there was traffic the wind was what you mostly heard and felt.

Still going through old photos from this summer while it is just too hot out to do much work outside. Also still experimenting with an effective workflow for to take color images and convert them to what I saw as a Black and White image.

This is a 200mm shot looking SSE toward the Cloudcroft Peaks. the image was processed using primarily the Color Zone, Local Contrast and Tone Equalizer modules in Darktable. Red, Green and Yellow were enhanced. Blue and Cyan were removed.

It's And since I have pics galore of our recent trip to here's this.

I'm looking at this now and thinking i might have over processed this some. It was an overcast day. So comments are welcome on that.

It's also just a so-so photo. Which is ok with me. I’m happy remembering being in the park and just plain enjoying our time there. Thanks

Looking out from the Goat Lick Outlook on Rte 2 in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. Turns out the goats are mostly in season there in April and May. They really do lick rocks there for the minerals that help thier summer diet.
Was bored and not paying attention when i noticed the end of a train going over this bridge spanning a large ravine.
yeah, I know, another boring train pic.

Visiting Glacier National Park. This was yesterday afternoon at Logan Pass on the Continental Divide. Wind was crazy, felt we almost fly standing out there. Yeah, I know. All the majestic scenery there and I take and post some flowers

A Black and White 20mm image near Logan Pass and Weeping Wall. The image was converted from color to partial minus blue, and enhanced green, red and yellow. Circular polarizer was used to darken sky.

I need to go back to soon. It’s good for my soul to feel so small and insignificant.

Epic day biking the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park. Bikes are allowed before the road opens to cars, which will be any day now. Absolutely spectacular. 3200 ft elevation gain in 16 miles from Avalanche Trail head to Logan Pass. Going up is some work, but the ride back is all downhill.
