Very pleased to have finally spotted one of the #Glaikit plaques in the wild! Can we have a moment of silence of the lowland haggis.
A bit of fun for the end of today. If you've even been in Finnieston area of Glasgow and seen this monkey hanging from a wire on Minerva Street and wondered what it's doing there, the Glasgow Information and Kultural Identity Taskforce (or Glaikit for short) have an explanation for you which they've kindly put on a plaque nearby.

If you've ever wondered what a small toy monkey is doing hanging from the wires above Minerva Street in the Finnieston area of Glasgow, our newest plaque explains the sad story behind why it's there.

I had I fun afternoon today tracking down another three of the five 'Glaikit' plaques that have appeared around Glasgow recently.
Apart from the one I posted yesterday about the Elephants of Maryhill Locks, I think this one from the Botanic Gardens is my favourite. 🤣🤣🤣
I've still got the High Street one to find.

I came across this on my morning run along the Forth and Clyde Canal in Glasgow this morning. Who knew they used elephants to help build the Maryhill Locks.
Thanks to the folks at the Glasgow Information and Kultural Identity Taskforce for providing such an informative plaque!
