The former Baptist Mission Church on Canal Street, Glasgow. It was built in a domestic style in 1898 for mission work in the Port Dundas area of the city. This continued until it closed in 1958. It's one of the few unlisted older buildings left standings in this area.

I've always loved the quality of this Glasgow Coat of Arms on the front of Saint Andrew's Parish Church (and with the building datung fron the mid 1700s, it must be one of the oldest in the city), but what's with the troll at the bottom?

Barony North Church in Glasgow. Built in 1878, it was designed in an Italianate Baroque style by John Honeyman. This is a beautiful and imposing church, but as it's set slightly off any of the main roads, it probably doesn't get the attention it deserves.

One of the octagonal towers on Shawlands Cross Church. Designed by Miller and Black in the wonderfully named Perpendicular Gothic style, it was built in 1903. I particularly like the crown of gargoyles.

The bell tower of Govan and Linthouse Parish Church. Designed in a Gothic style by Robert Baldie and built in 1873, the wooden belfry on this tower is a replacement for the original 150 spire.

Saint Columba Gaelic Church on St Vincent Street in Glasgow.

Designed by William Tennant and Fred V Burke in a Gothic Style, complete with 200 foot spire, and dating from the early 1900s, this is the largest and most ornate church outside of the Scottish Highlands built specifically for a Gaelic speaking congregation.

Saint Albert's Parish Church in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow. Built in an Italian Renaissance style 1886 from a design by John B Wilson. This church wouldn't look remotely out of place in a small Italian vilage rather than in the middle of Glasgow.

There had been a church on this site since 1720, and buried its graveyard are a number of Glasgow's Tobacco Lords, including Andrew Buchanan and John Glassford, who made a fortune from trading tobacco grown on slave plantations in what is now the state of Virginia in the USA.
