I've always loved the quality of this Glasgow Coat of Arms on the front of Saint Andrew's Parish Church (and with the building datung fron the mid 1700s, it must be one of the oldest in the city), but what's with the troll at the bottom?

1840s Tudor Gothic gable and finial on 75 Trongate, Glasgow. I love their shapes, and the coat of arms is a cracker, too, especially the fish which are supporting it.

I'd never noticed the Glasgow emblems of the the bird, the fish, the bell and the tree cast into the base of the lamp posts outside Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum before. It's a really nice extra design touch.

They're based on the symbols of Glasgow: The bell than never rang, the fish that never swam, and the bird that never flew.

I love the boat prows that decorate so many of Glasgow's older buildings, but this one is particulalry good.
It's also the only one I've seen containing three of the four symbols of Glasgow (I'm sure there must be a bell in there somewhere as well, but I just can't find it!).
