Some music for the #Coronation- #Scottish folk singers Robin Hall And Jimmie MacGregor celebrated the greatest student prank of all things with "The Wee Magic Stane", a thoroughly irreverent song about the repatriation of the #StoneOfDestiny by 4 #GlasgowUni students in 1950. The #StoneOfScone is currently back at #WestminsterAbbey, on loan for the crowning of #CharlesIII.

While there he wrote "A simple history of ancient philosophy" aimed at the general reader, and the only extant full biography of #FrancisHutcheson, coining the term "Scottish Enlightenment" and crediting Hutcheson as its father.

Moving to #GlasgowUni (as Hutcheson had before him) he became an expert in #AdamSmith & economics.

Sometimes I wonder where my teengirl gets her affinity for computing/ coding.

Then I remember my own joy on summer projects at Uni using Mathematica to chart orbits

Her grandma’s first job as a physics technician at Glasgow Uni, where the computers used punch cards.

Her great-grandma’s enthusiastic early adoption of personal computers in the home, typing up programmes just for the fun of it.

Guess we all loved the satisfaction when it works.
