Glasgow University Tower in the early morning light.
Glasgow University was founded in 1450, making it the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world. It moved to its current site in the west end of the city in the 1870s, and its distinctive tower was completed in 1891. At 278 feet tall, it remains one of the tallest buildings in Glasgow, and it is visible from large parts of the city
