Caught a in busy search for nectar on these two lovely in recently.

The blooms on these mid-sized trees are bountiful and healthy as anything.

The red petals (pic 1) are spectacular, so too the filaments and anthers of both coloured flowers.

Truly beautiful!

🙌❤️

, common names white African daisy, Cape rain-daisy, Cape daisy or rain daisy, is a plant species native to South Africa and Namibia.

The camera depicted these beauties perfectly; they were just as vibrant and visually dynamic in appearance irl, as you’re seeing here.

The colours of the petals; amazing whites, violets and purple colours bleeding into each other and dark disk flowers (florets; those that make up the centre - pic 3), contrasted with a small ring of orange are a feast for the visual senses!

Meet a !

These come in white too, I read!

Plectranthus ecklonii is a shrub from the mint family Lamiaceae.

And you guessed it… it’s native to South Africa!

It’s usual habitat includes forest or shaded situations near the coast. But this one was growing inland and in semi-shade… and would most likely catch the afternoon sun.

But it looks happy (and healthy) to me!

Just delightful.

Love ’s.

They were a staple (and in abundance!) in my childhood garden.

They appeared in garden beds, pots and hanging baskets.

This is a nice colour combo - 💜🤍

, aka the , is a plant found in the Mediterranean Basin and Central Asia.

It’s also 💜-ing at the moment!!

It’s everywhere and blooming with vigour.

This one is a wild-child… growing in a carpark and very happy indeed. It has spread to around 1.7 metres tall and about 5 metres wide.

Most of its blooms are full, the petals are shaped and defined with a single indentation along the length of each petal, from the ovary (centre), extending out the to the rounded petal edge.

The violet colour is consistent and gorgeous.

here has been a real pleasure this summer (and autumn!).

aka 'Sunburst' are still going strong here in Melbs.

These are two trees; one in , the other in .

These usually have an abundant canopy.

Young foliage starts off a bright yellow colour and ripens to lime green. The two tone looks terrific in the morning sun!

These bees were photographed in on a bush.

They were ‘busy’ indeed!!

Some quick facts about honeybees;
Only female honey bees can sting, the males (drones) are not able to sting.

A typical active colony may have around 50,000 workers
Honey bees communicate through pheromones.

Honey bees fly up to 25 klm/h (15 mph) and beat their wings 200 times per second or 12,000 beats per minute!

Drones die after mating.

Foraging honey fly about 88,000 klm’s (55,000 miles) collectively, to produce a half a kilogram (approx 1 pound) of honey, visiting around 2 million flowers.

Each honey makes about 1 twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in its entire life time 😳

A worker honeybees lifetime? Between 30 - 60 days.

Magnolias can grow to 30m (100 ft) tall, native to the lowlands and swamps of the Atlantic coastal plain of the eastern United States, from Florida to Long Island, New York.

The flowers carry a very strong vanilla scent… this one in was aromatic as ever!!

The seeds are black but covered by a thinly fleshy coat, which is attractive to some fruit-eating birds; these swallow the seeds, digest and disperse the seeds in their droppings.

The seeds can be seen sitting on the bottom petal.

This greenery is from what my flora app tells me is a , … or another if about half a dozen other descriptions! Gosh my head is spinning.

Anyhow, whatever its name in any part of the world, this specimen is a beauty!

Was taken in a sunny day so its leaves displayed vibrantly in abundance. The sun almost helped make the leaves of this tree a kind of fluorescent in nature.

Super hydrating and eye catching!

Such a beautiful ’sgrevillea!

It is growing with pride in a public reserve in

Delicate, yet displays strength and resilience, for mine.

I love the striking colours, minimalist of course, but that’s what makes this flowering shrub a delight.

It has needle-like leaves and red to orange flowers, and grows well in rocky places.

It is ‘hearty’!! 💖💖💖
